Move to new studios

The move takes place on 9th May, with normal activities beginning on 13th May 2011.

Club Management

The extra pressures on your Council this year have increased the work a great deal, and have prevented us from up some good initiatives. It has become apparent that we need a new way of managing the club which involves more people which will not only be fairer but will enable a pool of experience to build up which is in the long term interests of the club when existing members stand down. People are usually willing to help with tasks when asked, but at present this is on an ad-hoc basis with no named person taking overall responsibility. We are proposing a number of sub-groups, each headed by a Council member, but with three or four other members from the club.

These are:

Exhibitions - John Fulthorpe

Events - Joe McGregor and Steve Telford

Communications - Malcolm Smith

Catering and Housekeeping - No Council member, but Irene Ayre has offered to lead on catering and at present Maureen Henricks, Isobel Taylor and Maureen Brown are sharing other tasks, but it would be helpful to have more members involved.

In addition Angela Harper has offered to be secretary, Wendy Ranade will continue as Chair, Bruce McNiven as Treasurer and Roly Burn as Membership Secretary.

Bywell Arts Fair

The club has been invited to submit pictures to the Bywell Art Fair this year. It will take place in June - information and application forms available April 2011.

Bywell is a village near Stocksfield in the Tyne Valley. The fair is run by the two parishes which serve the area and the pictures will be hung within the church premises.

This is a well established and successful event.

There will be a standard commission to the organisers plus a small hanging fee. We have been invited to submit up to 50 items which is quite a challenge and contributors should prepare up to 5 or 6 items each. There may be a pre-selection since the NoEAC will be featured as the contributing organisation - dependent on overall numbers.

information and application forms available April 2011.
